Together We Can Clean Up This Mess
When we think about ‘home’, we think about our houses. And rightly so – our spaces are our sanctuaries. Whether you’re a daily duster or a once-a-week mess buster, keeping our homes clean is the ultimate act of self-care. It’s a human nature thing. Think, fresh sheets, sparkly dishes, and you’re about to put the kettle on. Bliss. But (sorry to interrupt your daydream), we need to remember the other place we call home. The one we all share.
The uncomfortable truth is that in cleaning our homes, we’re dirtying the planet.
We know by now that single-use plastics and ‘forever chemicals’ can take hundreds of years to decompose, if at all, clogging up sewers, waterways and landfills in the process and meaning chemicals that are produced today will never degrade naturally. That’s why we focus on natural origin ingredients for our household products. Because who’s going to clean up this mess if not each and every one of us?

What are phosphates?
Usually, detergents contain phosphates – substances which lead to an overgrowth of algae in our water systems and waterways. These algal blooms block light, deplete oxygen, and ultimately destroy ecosystems. Chemical surfactants (the things that make up detergents) can also alter the surface of water itself, making it easier for bacteria and parasites to disrupt the aquatic life beneath. In fact, if you really read the small print, most household cleaners are ‘harmful to aquatic life with long-lasting effects’. Not what we signed up for.
Why is bleach so bad?
Bleach is another bad guy and can really harm the environment. It is poison after all. Once it’s in the water system, bleach particles can combine with other minerals to create toxins that linger for years. Byproducts of bleach production can end up floating around in our atmosphere, destined for the ozone layer. With such a bad report card, bleach’s natural alternatives are a no-brainer. Things like lemon essential oil, vinegar or baking soda can be just as effective.

How to protect the place we all call home?
Our refillable bottles are 100% recyclable, perfect for reducing your plastic footprint. And our plant-powered formulas for our household products are vegan, cruelty-free, and with no SLS, parabens, bleach or phosphates. Take on the dishes with our Lemon Washing Up Liquid, or lighten the load of your laundry days with our Aloe Vera & Rosemary Laundry Liquid, now in a more manageable 1 litre bottle and plastic saving 2.5 litre and 5 litre refill bottles.
