Culture Forager, Vol. 14
Welcome to Culture Forager, a place for you to root around and rummage in what’s been piquing our interest each month. From podcasts to art workshops, we’ll take you through our top five foraged findings this season.
In this edition, there’s an art workshop, a brilliant short film and some lovely stuff to listen to, amongst other good stuff…
The Doc

Delve into the fascinating world of extreme bird-watching, and follow two brothers, who commit to spending a year living in a minivan, travelling the US to become the best in the biz. Watch LISTERS: A Glimpse Into Extreme Birdwatching on YouTube. Hopefully this doc will leave you feeling inspired to pick up a pair of binoculars, get down to your nearest hide and look out for some rare sightings!
The art workshop

Reconnect with Nature and explore your creativity at Woven Together, a fibre art workshop set in the heart of the Lake District. Led by community artist Lana Grindley and Love Art Workshops, this calming, guided session invites you to create while surrounded by the rivers and woodland. Open to all, the workshop welcomes every skill level, no previous art or craft experience required.
Saturday 30th May, Ambleside. Lunch and refreshments included. All art materials and equipment will be provided. Tickets available online.

The short

In this 12-minute short film, meet honey bee conservationist Matt Somerville, who builds low-invention log hives to support wild honey bees across the UK. Follow his process as he crafts these homes, and discover the growing threats facing natural habitats for wild bees. This beautifully shot film ‘The Hive Architect | Saving Britain's Wild Bees’ captures Matt’s work, his handcrafted hives, and his deep commitment to free-living bees.
The album

Immerse yourself in this collection of bird-song–inspired music from Joe Gremel, aka Funkmammoth. Bird Watching is smooth, tranquil, and effortlessly groovy, making it the perfect soundtrack for a laid back Sunday morning. If listening on YouTube, it’s complimented with footage of a bird table.
