5 Reasons to Make the Switch to Our Aluminium Bottles

They’re Recycled
No new aluminium was produced in the making of these bottles! We found one of the only suppliers in Europe that works with 100% recycled aluminium to make them. First, we conducted a life cycle assessment (LCA), which took into account the bottles’ entire journey – from the extraction of raw materials used to make them, right through to what happens to them when they’re empty. Our studies showed us that newly produced aluminium contains 13 times the carbon of our recycled version. And by using 100% recycled aluminium, we’re not taking resources from the planet.
They’re Infinitely Recyclable
One of the reasons we love aluminium is that it can be shredded, melted down and transformed into something new – endlessly. Unlike plastic, which generally weakens and degrades each time it’s recycled, aluminium retains its strength and properties no matter how many times it goes through the process. Yep: it really is a true circular material. Aluminium is also far more likely to be recycled: in the UK, only around 12% of household plastic waste is actually processed for reuse, while an impressive 68% of aluminium packaging is given a new life. They’re Refillable
We designed these bottles with refilling in mind. When your favourite shampoo, conditioner or body wash runs out (boo), save energy, money and waste by refilling (yay). Take your empties to your nearest refill station, or bulk-buy our big refills ready to top up at home. One 5-litre container will replenish your aluminium bottle ten times over! Short of space? Our diminutive 2.5-litre refill was designed for you – and will give you five full refills of your 500ml bottle. We even do massive 20-litre refills for very busy bathrooms. Every time you don’t buy a new bottle and reuse your aluminium one, you’re doing the planet a favour. And it couldn’t be easier!
They’re Durable
Water and metal don’t mix, right? Actually, it’s only certain types of metals that rust – and aluminium isn’t one of them (hooray!). These bottles were built to last, so they can keep being refilled time and time again. They’re made to live under the shower or sit on shelves in steamy bathrooms. For as long as you keep refilling and reusing them, they won’t rust or tarnish. They’re much less likely to get mouldy than plastic, which can retain moisture and develop tiny scratches that trap bacteria. They Look Good
There’s more to life than the way things look, but our aluminium bottles do look beautiful in bathrooms. Which also makes them excellent gifts. Of course, the main thing is that they’re recycled, refillable and infinitely recyclable – but those sleek good looks? Definitely a bonus for bathroom aesthetics.
A note about pumps: This blog refers to our aluminium bottles themselves, excluding the recyclable plastic pumps. We’d love to find an alternative to plastic dispensers, eventually. For now, the pumps that come with our aluminium bottles are 100% recyclable via household recycling, with no metal springs so they don’t need to be taken apart first. But they’re not designed to be recycled, they’re designed to be reused – on repeat!
