We have faith in Nature’s benefits

We have absolute trust and confidence (faith!) that Nature knows best — and that products made with natural ingredients are better both in terms of efficacy and well-being. The clue’s in the name, really.

When Rivka first moved from California to Edinburgh, she noticed that her hair and skin struggled with Scotland’s harsh winters, so she used her knowledge of plants to formulate Faith In Nature’s first ever products from seaweed foraged from the beaches nearby.

To this day, all of our products are formulated with expert plant knowledge, the best quality natural ingredients and essential oils. And we’ve had nearly fifty years of people telling us they work. So here’s a rundown of some of our go-to essential oils, and the reason we turn to them time and time again.

Lavender

Lavender essential oil is known for its calming effects and properties, and it isn’t just its soothing aroma that allows you to let go and relax. Studies have shown that lavender can reduce stress and anxiety, help you to get a better night’s sleep, and also help minimise the effects of migraines. It’s also a good one to have in the toolbox if you’re going through menopause, as it can help get you through hot flushes and minimise pain. It’s easy to see why lavender is a firm favourite in the aromatherapist’s kit.

Rosemary

Rosemary essential oil is used for treating headaches, improving poor circulation, and reducing both physical and mental fatigue. A recent study in the Journal of Neuroscience found that rosemary “significantly enhances the quality of memory and increased mental alertness’. No wonder we see so many people searching for our Rosemary products around exam time.

Tea Tree

Tea tree oil is the one we tend to turn to for minor scrapes, scuffs, and skin that needs a little extra TLC. It has been known to help reduce irritation and inflammation in acne, and it can also be used to treat toes suffering from fungal infections. It’s a magical oil that we’re particularly fond of, and it also works as a gentle cleanser for your hands, too.

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera, in its gel form, is a great antidote to sunburn and cools the skin right down. Its oil is also a deep moisturiser for the head and scalp; it can help battle dandruff and also keep your hair looking silky soft. It also helps keep spots under. If you have a particularly angry spot, a touch of Aloe Vera might just do the trick.

Hemp

Filled with fatty acids, hemp oil can keep skin and hair looking and feeling a whole lot healthier. It’s known for being a deep moisturiser, without overpowering the skin with oil. It’s a balancing act and one that it performs extremely well. Other benefits for the skin include treatment for acne and eczema, a wonder oil for locking in moisture and soothing the skin.

Orange

The perfect zesty scent to invigorate and elevate your mood. Add a few drops of it to your bath for a soothing soak, or incorporate some of the oil into a massage, as it’s known to soothe muscle aches and joint pains. It’s also handy to have around the house as it makes a juicy household cleaner.

It goes without saying that we love essential oils, and it's a joy to walk into our factory and smell the air filled with them. Talk about aromatherapy! But aromatherapy really starts with noticing how each aroma affects us personally. Why not try taking note of how they make you feel next time you use them?
