We are delighted to share with you, our ongoing commitment to reduce our carbon footprint on the environment. Over the last 12 months our aim has been to reduce our use of energy, water and materials, whilst generally becoming a more efficient business.
We have been working with the support of the Business Growth Hub to ensure our manufacturing processes are as efficient as possible. After we undertook a resource efficiency audit we implemented significant environmental improvements on the site.
One of the biggest changes we are proud to announce, is the use of our 100kW biomass boiler, which is used to heat water in shampoo production. The biomass boiler replaced energy intensive electric heaters, and this change has significantly reduced our use of electricity.
We have also replaced old fluorescent lighting with energy efficient LED lamps. These lamps are much brighter which means less lighting is required throughout the manufacturing site.
Also we reuse water that goes through our chiller equipment, which reduces overall water consumption considerably.
All of these changes have brought us closer to becoming a much more eco-friendly company, which is central to our ethos. We have also managed to save over £23,000 this year, due to these instrumental changes.
We are working towards the next phase of our environmental improvement. We will be installing rainwater harvesting equipment on the roof to reduce mains water usage, undertake a compressed air leak detection survey, and investigate more efficient inkjet printing solutions for packaging.
