Welcome to ’5 minutes with’ the first in a new line of features for our blog. Today we catch-up with Faith in Nature founder Rivka Rose to find out what inspires her in business and why she is never without her trusty notebook.

Which individual has inspired you in your business and why?

When I envisaged my business, it was a model I had in mind rather than an actual individual that inspired me. I had a vision of a company with strong integrity providing good quality products that could help people, especially those with sensitive skin. Those were the principles on which Faith in Nature was founded and still delivers on today.

What is the best piece of advice you have ever been given?

An obstacle is a challenge yet to be conquered.

What items do you always have with you?

A notebook for scribbling down ideas in those light bulb moments. New product ideas, new green initiatives for our facilities, they all go in the book! I also always carry my phone, glasses and a picture of my family.

How do you make contacts that are useful for business?

By networking, being straight forward and approachable.

Tell us one tip that could prove invaluable in life or in business?

Be honest.

What is your business’s biggest asset?

It’s difficult to choose one. The team, our products, our price point, our customers…it’s all great and I am thankful for all.

What is your proudest achievement in business?
It’s pretty hard to top winning Female Entrepreneur of the Year in 2011. A close second is staying true to our cruelty free, green conscious approach over 40 years of business. In that time Faith in Nature has grown into a global brand, with award winning natural beauty, household and even baby care products.

Finding the life balance between work and home is the hardest challenge for any working woman and I’m still working at this achievement!

Our natural baby care range – Humphrey’s Corner – has scooped not just one, but two awards.

Testers have presented our Humphrey’s Corner Gentle Rose Shampoo with a Bronze in the 2013 BizzieBaby Awards!

The formulation came up trumps for being free from parabens and causing no irritation to kids’ eyes.

A soft natural fragrance also didn’t go unnoticed and the panel of judges said hair was left smelling lovely and fresh, with a soft, clean feeling.

Rivka Rose, Faith in Nature’s founder has been recognised as one of the most authoritative figures in the natural beauty world.

The official ‘Who’s Who in Natural Beauty 2013’ revealed which personalities are moving the sector forward by driving trends, advocacy or innovation.

The top 25 included inspiring individuals from the sector ranging from journalists and broadcasters, to buyers and company founders. One nomination for Rivka read: “To my mind she is a real powerhouse, always striving to push the boundaries and to not only run a green, ethical company, but to innovate with new natural products.”

It’s the time of year when many parents across the country are setting out on a bug busting mission!

Tuesday 31 January, 2012 is National Bug Busting Day an initiative taking place in schools nationwide to highlight the importance of stamping out head louse.
