Lavandula hybrid
Closely related to true lavender, lavandin is a hybrid that is grown primarily in Spain, France, Italy and the Balkan Peninsula. It is hardier than true lavender, and although the plants produce more oil than lavender, it is considered to be less of a sedative. The oil is utilised extensively in soaps and hair care products, and it has a sharper and more penetrating scent than true lavender.
