The sustainable growth of palm oil is an issue of world concern. The international working group to set standards of sustainability for palm oil is the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), established in 2004. However, the actual details of definition and verification of sustainability are not yet finalised.

So at present there is no fully accredited sustainable palm oil in production, apart from a small number of organic plantations which have been established.

Whilst globally not all growers of palm trees are signed up to the RSPO initiative, all the suppliers of palm oil to Faith Products Ltd for Faith in Nature soap production have signed up to the agreements in principle. By only purchasing from these suppliers Faith Products Ltd is supporting the initiative of producing sustainable palm oil in the future.
