About Faith In Nature's Natural Beauty Products

Our History - The birth of Faith in Nature

Our very first premises in Edinburgh, Scotland

It was while I was growing up in New York City that I first became aware of the glory we call 'Mother Nature'. The changing of the seasons - uncovering the creation of new life and its move into maturity and rebirth - and my early experiments with herbs and wild flowers in the fields and countryside developed in me an abiding passion to stay close to a force that had served and supported the well-being of our ancestors over thousands of years.

This passion took me first to studying nutrition and herbs, and then to becoming a qualified reflexologist and aromatherapist when I learnt to appreciate the wonders of ancient formulations and the remedial and health benefits these preparations can provide to our differing skin and hair types - and their benign impact on our surroundings.

But that was not enough. This revelation had created in me a sense of mission: a desire to share with others the choice we're all free to make in rejecting artificially modified and synthetically formulated products that are showered down on us by large, multi-national corporations and, instead, embrace a lifestyle that follows close to the natural rules of mother earth.

By now, having moved in 1972 to rural Scotland, I started my first small-scale production. Our kitchen was Faith in Nature's first 'factory', with my husband Aaron never too sure if it was a meal or another batch of soap or skincare cream I was preparing on the other side of the door. But, as he and I then represented the totality of our 'sales team', he appreciated we needed to share our home with this new fledging enterprise.

Initially, as we visited health store keepers, we found that many had thought only to stock food products and supplements. However, they readily accepted the idea of stocking Faith in Nature as we explained to them the value of providing a more holistic approach to their customers' health needs and, as the repeat orders encouragingly gathered pace, it became apparent we would need to commit to larger-scale production.

In 1989, with the opportunity to use soft, mineral-laden water sourced from England's Lake District in our formulations, we took the big decision to move production to Lancashire. However, with demand continuing to accelerate - often due to the personal recommendation of our rapidly widening circle of consumers - we moved again in 2001 to larger premises in the same locality.

Over this period Faith in Nature has continued to expand its retail penetration and widen its product range; and is now reported by the independent health food trade to be its fastest selling bodycare brand. In addition to the many testimonials from delighted consumers, our products regularly receive citations from the industry and have frequently scored the highest marks in independent comparison trials on their quality, their benign impact on the environment - and for their sensible prices that place genuinely natural bodycare products within the affordability of most consumers.

Since those early days of my childhood, Faith in Nature and the ethical values it stands for has become my 'dream come true'. I am delighted to share it with you.
